Study with Tranby

People gather at Tranby to learn and to share knowledge and experiences for connection with community. As an Aboriginal-controlled Co-operative, Tranby is directed by and for Mob.

The 11026NAT Diploma of Applied Aboriginal Studies (known as ‘DAAS’) is an accredited course owned by Tranby and not available from any other training provider. It is exclusively for Indigenous students and is trained by Indigenous trainers.

The 10861NAT Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Advocacy (known as ‘ATSILA’) is an accredited course originally developed by the Human Rights Commission in response to the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody (1987 – 1991).

This ATSILA course is owned by Tranby and is not available from any other training provider. This course is exclusively for Indigenous students and ATSILA trainers have a legal background for guiding students through the legal system and the work role of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander legal advocate.

The CHC42121 Certificate IV in Community Development qualification provides those who wish to work in community services to assist in the delivery of programs that contribute to the development of Community capacity through public social change processes.

Trainers who engage, motivate and include you

Tranby’s trainers bring their expertise to each of our course offerings. They invite contribution from the unique perspectives of the student group, creating a rich and nuanced learning environment where your questions and experiences are valued.

In Vocational Education and Training, you get more than one opportunity to submit each assessment. If further evidence is required for you to meet the requirements of an assessment, your assessor will give you detailed feedback to guide you through to completion on your own merit.

Subsidised education, travel and accommodation

We believe all our Mob should have access to our valuable education programs. Tranby receives funding from the Federal Government to support Indigenous non-NSW residents and from the NSW Government to support Indigenous NSW residents. This means that you do not need to pay tuition fees.

The availability of ABSTUDY support is based on individual circumstances.

If you attend the Tranby campus for block study weeks, you may be eligible for subsidised travel and accommodation if you live outside Sydney.

A dedicated travel agent will make your travel arrangements and Tranby will arrange your accommodation at the nearby Best Western Haven Inn, Glebe.
