Certificate IV in Community Development
What is this course?
This qualification reflects the role of community services workers who assist in the delivery of programs that contribute to the development of capacity through public social change processes. This course has been designed to address issues that specifically impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community development.
Who is this course suited to?
This course is designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who currently work, or wish to work, in a community organisation. This level of work takes place within a professional team under the guidance of others to support development within the community. Successful completion of this course enables you to work in organisations across a range of social, health, environment, economic, arts and culture and recreation sectors.
This training is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over 18 years of age.
Tranby receives funding from the Federal Government to support Indigenous non-NSW residents and from the NSW Government to support Indigenous NSW residents. This means that you do not need to pay tuition fees. The availability of ABSTUDY support is based on individual circumstances.
Tranby’s student support team is here for you on your learning journey. The team includes your trainer for academic support, dedicated IT support and Student Services for general assistance. You can also book time with one of Tranby’s Elders is Residence for cultural support and connection.
The course is divided into five consecutive study blocks with their associated assessments such as virtual meetings, case studies, written reports and short answer questions. Each study block runs for approximately two months and is followed by a study break of about two weeks. The entire course runs over a one-year duration.
Students can work through the study blocks at their own pace but must submit their assessments by the due dates. The study load is typically 20-25 hours per week during study blocks.
Once we receive your Expression of Interest, we will contact you before the next course begins.
