Study with us

Tranby is a special place where people gather to learn, share knowledge and experiences and find their strengths.

At Tranby, we teach differently. We are proudly Aboriginal-controlled, meaning our courses are designed with and for Mob. Our programs are delivered by Educators who know community and are passionate about connecting students with Culture.

Tranby will give you the unique opportunity to study with other Indigenous students from around Australia. By sharing stories, experiences and conversations, you and your classmates will drive your own learning and inspire each other along your learning journeys.

Trainers who engage, motivate and include you

Tranby supports lifelong learning and provides a culturally supportive environment to help you achieve. We understand that returning to study as an adult can be challenging, so we provide additional support to help you take the first step.

We understand that not everyone’s learning journey will be the same. Our staff and student support team will help you identify and achieve your individual education goals and your learning needs and aspirations will be the priority of our qualified trainers. Our courses provide practical, real-life contexts that help students connect and apply their new knowledge in their communities.

Subsidised education, travel and accommodation

We believe all our Mob should have access to our valuable education programs. Tranby currently receives funding from the Federal Government to support Indigenous non-NSW residents and from the NSW Government to support Indigenous NSW residents. This means that you do not need to pay tuition fees or travel and accommodation expenses if you live outside Sydney and are eligible for subsidised travel and accommodation. The availability of ABSTUDY support is based on individual circumstances.

If you attend the Tranby campus for block teaching weeks, you may be eligible for subsidised travel and accommodation. A dedicated travel agent will make your travel arrangements and Tranby will arrange your accommodation at the nearby Best Western Haven Inn, Glebe, which is close to public transport, shops and cafes.

Travel to other countries

At Tranby, there are opportunities for student scholarship trips overseas that provide you with first-hand experience of Indigenous education in other countries. Recent student scholarship trips include attending the World Indigenous Peoples Conference in Education (WIPCE) in Toronto, Canada, and volunteering in an orphanage in Ubud, Bali.
